Food MosaicMy name is Simon MacDonald  and I came to be a chef because I like good food.

This web site is all about good food. I’m sharing my favourite recipes with you, and also my favourite suppliers, and eating places. I have been cooking for over 30 years, and all the recipes have been cooked and photographed by me, and tried out on many people.

I do not like fast-food or take-away meals, and quite often, the food I come across daily, is pretty poor. Some people regard eating as merely fuelling the body, but in my opinion food is one of the great pleasures in life. Food does not need to be complicated or expensive to be good, and should be enjoyed wherever, and whenever, possible.

So to enjoy good food, I taught myself to cook. I also discovered the pleasure of cooking for others, sharing in their enjoyment of something I had created, and soon my cooking skills were in demand.

I have been lucky enough to have been able to travel widely in the UK, and to many parts of the world. I have had many fantastic eating experiences that have educated my culinary tastes. As my palate has become more sophisticated, my cooking skills have also increased to match my appetites.

The food I cook  is an eclectic mix of cuisines spanning the globe; my own brand of cooking,  and where possible I always try and use locally sourced ingredients.  By doing this I promote, and support, my local food food heroes. No matter where in the world you live you too can support your local suppliers by buying their produce.
